In this podcast, we have a chat with Alan Clarke about the greatest frustrations that stem from running a business, the many different types of business and start-ups that are arising with increasing speed and interest, and the processes you can put in place to try and prevent wasting time with people who aren’t as serious or lie about the funds they have.
We discuss the dangers of spiralling in the early stages of a business and feeling as though you are constantly reliant on external influences, the power gained once you are off the ground that allows you to say no to customers or clients that you may not have had the business confidence to say no to earlier, and the dangers of being too nice when dealing with some customers who may not appreciate the extent of your giving and just expect more than you can feasibly offer.
Many start-ups complain about a lack of money or funding for resources, but there is a danger of not being active enough in searching for investment, or thinking you need more money than you do to get started. If you have a great business and great idea that is worth pursuing, there is no reason that you shouldn’t be able to find funding and people who are willing to invest in your idea.
